San Jose, California
RESIDENTIAL RENOVATION
This pied-a-terre in Silicon Valley draws inspiration from the materials of California, from the Spanish mission era to its modern, industrial future.
A reference to the adobe that originally built this state, the residence uses exclusively clay tile including Mexican Saltillo and Moroccan Zellige finishes for the bathroom.
The Bougainvillea wallpaper references the abundant climbing vine planted on California missions, while the fresh concrete Caesearstone countertops and industrial touches in the kitchen draw contrast with a commercial state, populated with strip malls and businesses.
The high-saturation colors and repeated parrot motif are an ode to the decor of classic San Francisco taquerias.
